I've just realised its been over a month since I last blogged and what a month...
We had our first Christmas as a family together and I have to say it was wonderful. Not just the lovely presents that the much beloved bought me, although they were lovely and there had obviously been much thought gone into the buying of them. But it was the family feel. Not once did the Robin make the girls feel like an encumbrance, we laughed, played games, argued a bit, ate too much and lazed around as a family for two weeks - Granted that we were ready for the girls to go back to school before they actually did, but that is usual family life.
After Christmas we made a trip down south to see friends in Orpington and stayed at my Mum's in Shepperton. She managed to redeem herself somewhat from her previously awful first impression, but I sense that Robin and her are never going to be close! It was good to catch up with old friends and introduce Robin to people he'd only previously spoken to on the phone and on the whole a good time was had by all.
This weekend we visited his family which was lovely apart from the truly awful behaviour of the girls. To be fair the older one wasn't too horrendous, just the now usual taunting, criticizing and harassment of her sister. The younger one seemed to have left her brains somewhere and not found them all weekend.
The low point of embarrassment was at Robin's sister's house where the 3 yr old asked her to put the plug in the bathroom sink and turn the hot tap on. The 3 yr old walked off as they do, and then so did my youngest one.... Leaving the tap running. Somehow the overflow wasn't man enough to cope with the onslaught and the result was water through Suz's kitchen ceiling.... Which has only just been repaired following the last time she had a leak in her bathroom, although thankfully that was nothing to do with my girls.
Lets just say mine are grounded like they have never been grounded before... The oldest not so badly though as she did have the sense to take the plug out, turn the tap off and come and tell us when she found it.
Ho Hum, what fun, a whole week with the girls by myself. I can't wait.
